Overview

Nymbus Alternative Overlay Strategies seeks to bring together our best ideas opportunistically in various asset classes using an overlay of directional, hedging and relative value strategies while combining discretionary and systematic methods. The portfolio aggregates multiple uncorrelated long/short strategies and provides an integratedalternative investments solution managed by a team of experts supported by computer modeling. The strategy offers daily liquidity and investors can subscribe via cash or in-kind (assets transfer used as collateral).

Jean Turmel

Jean Turmel

Chairman of the Board of Directors

Jean Turmel is the president of Perseus Capital inc. since 2005. Mr. Turmel has extensive experience in financial markets. He has held senior positions at National Bank of Canada as President of Capital Markets, Treasury and Investment Banking. He also held the positions of Chairman of the Board of Montréal Exchange Inc. and Natcan Investment Management Inc. Mr. Turmel was a Partner of a Canadian chartered bank, a Partner of National Bank Financial Inc. and Partner of TMX Group Inc. He is currently the Chairman of the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan and has been a member of the Board since 2007. He also served on the board of Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc. He is a recipient of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal for his contribution to the Canadian investment industry.

Mr. Poulin-Brière joined the Nymbus team in 2021 as Associate Vice President, Financial Engineering. Prior to joining Nymbus, Mr. Poulin Brière spent 8 years as Head of Investments at Perseus Capital, a quantitative hedge fund manager for high net worth clients founded in 2005 by Mr. Jean Turmel. For the last 4 years at Perseus, Mr. Poulin Brière held the title of Vice President. During his tenure at Perseus, Mr. Poulin Brière developed several systematic macroeconomic investment strategies using derivatives in several asset classes in addition to assisting Mr. Jean Turmel in various aspects of the company's management. Mr. Poulin-Brière holds a Bachelor of Administration in Finance from the Université du Québec à Montréal and a Master of Science in Market Finance from the University of Sherbrooke.
